This is one of U2’s first performances outside of the immediate Dublin area after the Pop Song ’78 competition. They travel to Cork where they play a show at the Stardust Ballroom, billed as their “1st time in Cork”. It may be their first trip to Cork but it is not their last, and they would regularly make the trip from this point onward.

Little is known about the show. The set list is unknown.

The opening act is a band called Asylum, which features a drummer by the name of Sam O’Sullivan, who later in life would become Larry Mullen’s drum tech. Asylum were the house band at the Downtown Kampus gigs for a number of years, where Joe O’Herlihy was working sound.
