U2 played the Newry Town Hall in County Down on the leap year. (In the tour announcement it was called the Parochial Hall). Admission was £1.50. Tickets were sold in advance at Carlin Records. The show ran from 8:30pm – 12:30am. U2 were paid £400 for the show.

Mickey Magill who organized the event for the Town Hall said, “Unfortunately, there wasn’t the biggest crowd at the gig, but the crowd that was there really lapped them up.” Some reports claim that only about 50 people in total were in attendance.

Conor Sweeney who was at the show told BBC, “Even back then, their craftwork was in their music. If you listen to the album Boy, it’s still one of the purest albums in their repertoire and I certainly enjoyed it from a technical point of view.” Jackie O’Rourke shared “It wasn’t very good and there weren’t many people at it. They were really punky, really out there type of music. Lots of people left. Within a year everybody was raving about them.”
