U2 play a concert in Toronto as part of the Boy tour.

Show Details:

U2’s show at the Ryerson Theatre is an all ages show, but mostly attended by attendees of Ryerson University. Bono struggles with a quiet crowd at the start of the show, seated in the 1200 seat venue, and urges them to get to their feet and start to dance. Once he gets them up the crowd proves to be energetic, and reports say quite into the show. Tickets were $9.50 for the show for the orchestra area. The set list is not known in full, but it is known that “I Will Follow” was played twice during this show from attendee reports. This is the third time U2 has played Toronto in the last six months and the band is gaining in popularity. The show is opened by The Stanley Frank Band, a Canadian act.

The concert was presented by CHUM and CHUM-FM. The show was advertised to start at 8pm, and was a seated concert.

Although he didn’t perform, The Edge returned to this venue on September 5, 2008 as part of the Toronto International Film Festival, where the premiere of the documentary It Might Get Loud was held.
