Show Details:

U2 appear on Top of the Pops to perform their new single, “Fire.” The music is pre-recorded as were all performances on Top of the Pops and the band sing over top. The studio is lit in orange and red, and the performance is accompanied with lots of smoke to give a fire effect, helped along by some special effects overlaid on U2 when the performance airs.

This was U2’s first appearance on Top of the Pops. But they will return a number of times over the years.
