Show Details:
This show by U2 is recorded and broadcast on FM radio. The band were also interviewed by the station after the performance.
The venue for this show is Elysée Montmartre, a venue located on Boulevard de Rochechouart in Paris. The capacity of the venue is 1,380 people, it is unknown if U2 had sold out this performance but there were still tickets available at the door the night of the show.
Bono is having fun, and adds lyrics throughout the show, including an extended “off-lyric” piece in the middle of “Gloria,” and in “Another Time, Another Place”. The performances of songs are strong, especially the new material from the recently released October. “No I can’t change the world, but they wouldn’t listen anyway” is the lyric in “Rejoice” tonight in the early verse instead of the album version, “I can’t change the world but I can change the world in me” which he sings later in the song. “Cry” and “Send in the Clowns” are part of “The Electric Co.” this evening. Bono does the guitar lesson before he plays “I Fall Down”, showing the crowd “E, F, A minor, that’s all you need here…” He plays guitar while The Edge is on keyboards for the song. During “11 O’Clock Tick Tock” Bono tells a story of being a child, “when I was small I used to dress up and look in the mirror. It used to make me feel like a shiver. I used to put on my mother’s lipstick, on my face.”
