Description:
The Edge joins Bryan Ferry in concert on a performance of “Carrickfergus”.
Show Details:
In 1988 Bryan Ferry brought his Bête Noire tour to Dublin, where he played the Royal Dublin Showground (RDS Arena). At that show he was joined by The Edge to perform “Carrickfergus”. The song is an Irish folk song, written about a town in Northern Ireland, just outside of Belfast. Ferry himself had recorded a version of the song in 1978. For the show, The Edge played guitar, while Ferry sang the song. The Bête Noire tour was promoted by Wasted Talent, a London-based agency who had worked extensively with U2 in the 1980s.
The Edge would again join Ferry to perform “Carrickfergus” in 2012. This time it was part of a fundraiser for two children’s hospitals, the Great Ormond Street Children’s Hopsital Friendship Ball, held in London.
