Bono appears at an auction for Product (RED) and sings “All You Need is Love”.

Show Details:

In an event to support (RED), Bono hosts an art auction at Sotheby’s in New York. The event is attended by a number of celebrities including Michael Stipe of R.E.M., Martha Stewart, Dennis Hopper, Anna Wintour, Christy Turlington and Helena Christiansen, and Queen Noor. Bono was accompanied to the event by his wife, Ali Hewson. Bono introduced the evening talking about St. Valentine, “patron saint of saccharine, bestower of the chocolate box, giver of the greeting card”, and joking St. Patrick could have learned a few things about marketing from St. Valentine. He also sang a verse of “All You Need is Love” acapella from the stage, leading the crowd to continue when he was finished. Bono had also sung the verse earlier in the day for a memorial for Rep. Tom Lantos.
