Show Details:
Dublin is alive with U2 spirit. Pubs are advertising U2 themed drinks, pub crawls, and more for the fans from around the world arriving to see the band at home. This is the second of three shows being held at Croke Park on the Northside of the city. Tonight the opening acts are the Kaiser Chiefs and Republic of Loose. Lead singer of the Kaiser Chiefs even borrows one of Bono’s early moves, and heads into the crowd at one point of the show, crowd surfing among the U2 fans in front of him.
During “Mysterious Ways” Bono brings a young fan from Chile onto the stage to dance.
“One” has shifted again. It started the tour in the encore, and then for a few nights now it has been in the middle of the first portion of the show. It is now appearing at the end of the first segment.
The band once again interacts with the International Space Station. The NASA astronauts hold up a sign that reads “Hello Dublin What’s the Craic?”
Snippets included “Here Comes the Sun” during “Beautiful Day”, a rare “Mothers of the Disappeared” during “Mysterious Ways” and “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For” ends with “Stand By Me”. The band is still marking the passing of Michael Jackson, tonight with a snippet of “Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough” in “Angel of Harlem”. “Rain” and “Thunderstruck” mark the weather during “City of Blinding Lights” and “Vertigo”. “I’ll Go Crazy” includes a snippet of “Reverend Black Grape” and “Sunday Bloody Sunday” has a nod to “Rock the Casbah”. “You’ll Never Walk Alone” finishes off “Walk On” this evening.
A bit of rain happens during the show as “The Unforgettable Fire” finishes, enough for the stage umbrellas to come out, although it quickly clears.
