Show Details:

This is U2’s third show at The Forum in Inglewood, of five shows in total that they will play in this venue. Although the third show at The Forum, in between this show and the previous show, U2 have played an extra show at The Roxy to a small crowd of contest winners. This is the first time on this tour that the band have played more than two shows at one venue.

Two songs that made their debut at The Roxy now make their first appearance on the Innocence + Experience tour with both “Elevation” and “Stuck in a Moment” making their first tour appearances tonight, played back to back in the middle of Act Two. A fan is pulled from the audience for “Mysterious Ways and Bono lets him stay on stage for “Elevation” to video the band using a mobile phone, which is displayed on the big screen, as well as streamed to the internet via Meerkat.

Bono continues to pay tribute to long time tour manager Dennis Sheehan who has died a few days earlier. He is mentioned at a couple of points in the show, including during “Stuck in a Moment”. Bono also shares during the show that The Edge is so in love with the city he has made it his home. “Every Breaking Wave” is dedicated to George and Amal Clooney this evening.

Snippets tonight include “Send in the Clowns”, “I Can See for Miles” and “Give It Away” during “The Electric Co.” The Red Hot Chili Peppers snippet likely the result of a couple being in the audience tonight. “Do You Remember Rock ‘n’ Roll Radio?” makes an appearance in “Vertigo”. “Love and Peace or Else” is part of “Until the End of the World”, and “Young Americans” is part of “Mysterious Ways”. “Bullet” has the usual “19” snippet during Bono’s ramble in the middle, and at the end between songs, U2 play a shortened version of “The Hands That Built America”. “I Remember You” is at the end of “Beautiful Day”. In the encore, “Mother And Child Reunion” is played ahead of “Streets” and a brief reference to U2’s own “California (There is No End to Love)” comes during that song.

This show appears to be the one which sees the celebrities come out in force. Present at the show are Chelsea Clinton, Judd Apatow, Rande Gerber, Cindy Crawford, John Mayer, Irving Azoff, Chelsea Handler, Mike Peters of the Alarm, Julian Lennon, Chad Smith and Anthony Kiedes of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Chris Martin from Coldplay and Jennifer Lawrence, Eddie Vedder from Pearl Jam, Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale, Lionel Richie, the previously mentioned George and Amal Clooney, Grant Heslov, Beck, Jimmy Kimmel, and Daniel Lanois.

During the soundcheck, the band practiced the two new additions “Elevation” and “Stuck in a Moment” but there are also reports via U2Gigs.com that the band worked on “An Cat Dubh” and “Into the Heart” as well as “Hawkmoon 269”.

The tour was announced on December 3, 2014, with tickets going on sale on Monday December 8.
