Show Details:

U2 play their fourth and final show on this tour in The Netherlands tonight. The band have been showing their love for the country and the fans from the country over this four night stay and tonight is no different. It’s obvious the band value the early commitment from fans in The Netherlands to the band.

Tonight’s set list change gets people talking. U2 play “Magnificent” for the first time on this tour, and it is the first time a song from No Line on the Horizon is played in full on the tour. It is the only time that the song is played on the tour, however, and up until the end of 2023, the only time that is has been played since the U2360 tour. “Out of Control” is in the early set tonight. “Magnificent” is followed by “Sweetest Thing”, played for the first time on the European leg of the tour. The show ends with “Bad” going into “40”, both being played for the first time on this European leg as well.

After “I Will Follow” Bono talks about the band’s love of the city and some of the things they’ve done while in the country. “Thank you for the loan of your great city. Thank you very much. We have called it home for the last week. I told the crowd last night that we had this marvelous day out on the beach a few days ago and I couldn’t remember the name of the beach. It was Hargen. Hargen beach. Incredible dunes. This beautiful setting sun. We took some photographs which we hope might be the album artwork for our next album Songs of Experience. We were shooting with ze famous Anton Corbijn. Do you know who he is? He’s an incredible part of our band. In fact, he would be in the band were he not so tall. We love him. Nini his partner is here tonight. We sing for you Nini, and Anton tonight also. We met him when we were boys. And also, somebody, not sure if he is here, Bert van de Kamp from OOR. He put us on the cover of OOR when we were only boys. Lypton Village thing with Edge’s brother, Gavin Friday who worked on this show. So you guys here in this country, you believed in our band.”

During “Cedarwood Road” Bono has often asked “Is Edge coming out to play?” starting with the final shows in New York. In Turin, at the start of the tour in Europe, he instead asked if Gavin (Friday) was coming out to play. Tonight he adds a third name to the list of people he asks about, asking “Is Caroline coming out to play?” a reference to U2 fan and founder of U2Log, Caroline van Oosten de Boer who calls Amsterdam home and who is at the show this evening.

“Do You Remember Rock ‘n’ Roll Radio” and “God Save the Queen” both appear in “Vertigo” this evening. “Love and Peace Or Else” and “Words” both appear in “Until the End of the World”. “Burning Down the House” makes an appearance in “Mysterious Ways”. “Amsterdam” appears in “Magnificent”. “19” makes an appearance during “Bullet the Blue Sky”. “I Remember You” makes an appearance at the end of “Beautiful Day”. “Mother and Child Reunion” leads into “Bad”, which has a short appearance of “40” before U2 play the full song.

The Innocence + Experience tour was initially announced on December 3, 2014. This show was one of the later shows announced, on December 8. Tickets went on general sale on Monday, December 15. A presale for U2.com members started on December 10. (Subscribers who joined prior to September 9, 2014 were part of the Experience group and could go first, subscribers joining after that date were part of the Innocence group.) The final two Amsterdam shows were put on sale at the same time.
