Description:

Bono participates in the annual busk for Simon Community, this year filmed, and streamed online.

Show Details:

With COVID-19, the annual busk which happens in the streets around Grafton Street was not possible. However, director Mark Logan of Collective Films worked with Glen Hansard to arrange an alternative. On December 19 they gathered a number of musicians to perform at St. Patrick’s Cathedral. The performances were filmed, and the performances were aired as part of a live stream on Christmas Eve, starting at 9pm on various Simon Community social media channels including YouTube.

Bono joins the musicians for a performance of “Running to Stand Still” at the cathedral. He is backed by the musicians gathered at the show. Throughout the program there are also a couple of interview segments with Bono.

While the special aired, Simon Community raised €170K. The organization helps 24,000 people throughout Ireland who are dealing with issues related to homelessness. A film and a record of the performances is being planned.
