Show Details:

Bono appears at The New Yorker Festival to promote his new book Surrender. He is in conversation with The New Yorker editor, David Remnick in a presentation titled “A Life in Songs”. Bono performed a three song set to open the performance with Kate Ellis on cello and Jacknife Lee on drums and keyboards. The show opened with “Vertigo” and then included “With or Without You” and “City of Blinding Lights.”

Later in conversation with Resnick, Bono also sang a few lines of “Sunday Bloody Sunday” as he talked about the origins of the song. Bono was on the stage for an hour and a half between the performance with Ellis and Lee and the conversation with Remnick. The performance was accompanied by images from the book on screen behind the performers. He also read a passage about Ali, and their first home together. Spotted in the audience was Helena Christensen, Phoebe Robinson, and Bono’s wife Ali, and son John.

The venue holds 811 people, in pew-style seating. Tickets were sold via The New Yorker festival and were available at a special discounted rate for magazine subscribers.
