Show Details:

On May 24, the 26 Mountains to Mayo Challenge held an event at the Titanic Museum in Belfast, with proceeds going to Cancer Fund for Children. The event was put on by Callow Events in the UK. The ticketed event was £500, and came with a fine dining experience and special guest, The Edge of U2. Sixty guests were present in a new space at the museum, opened for the first time to the diners. The Edge spoke at the event in a special “Fireside chat”. Doors opened at 7:30pm.

One of the attendees was George Lowden, of Lowden Guitars, known for making guitars for Ed Sheeran, Snow Patrol and others. During the event Lowden stood to one side of the stage, while The Edge played one of Lowden’s guitars. The song The Edge played was an instrumental version of U2’s “One”. It is not known if other songs were performed at this time.

Also during the event, Belfast artist Stephen Whalley did a live painting of Titanic Belfast, while The Edge looked on. The Edge purchased the painting during the auction.

Part of the performance can be seen on Tiktok here.

The 26 Mountains to Mayo challenge is a challenge to have participants visit the highest peak in each of the 32 counties in Ireland (26 in the Republic of Ireland and 6 in Northern Ireland). The event takes place over nine days starting on June 7th in Donegal, and ending in Mayo on June 15th. The goal is to raise £1m for Cancer Fund for Children. More information and the opportunity to get involved can be found here. The Cancer Fund for Children serves families in all 32 counties in Ireland, impacted by a childhood diagnosis of cancer.
