Show Details:
Hot Press magazine are celebrating their 50th anniversary in 2026. To celebrate the Hot Press 50 History in the Making concert was organized for the 3Arena featuring a number of musical performances, as well as special guests Michael D. Higgins and Myles O’Reilly. The concert kicked off what is planned to be a celebration of Hot Press throughout 2026.
During the show, the Boomtown Rats were one of the announced performers. They started a cover of the Thin Lizzy song “The Boys are Back in Town” and Adam Clayton joined them on bass, and Imelda May joined them on vocals for the performance. U2, said to be working on wrapping up their new album, were not able to schedule a full performance, but as expected, didn’t miss out on the event altogether. Hot Press was, and continues to be, a big part of U2’s story in Ireland, championing the band from their earliest days.
Of the show, Hot Press editor Niall Stokes said, “We wanted to launch our 50th Anniversary activities with a very special night. And that’s exactly what our History in the Making concert will be. The support from artists and musicians has been absolutely wonderful – and the extraordinary talent that will gather at 3Arena on the night reflects that. It is a phenomenal bill – and the perfect way for music fans, and fans of Irish music in particular, to begin their musical adventures for 2026!”
Other acts involved in the show included Van Morrison, Noel & Mike Hogan of The Cranberries, Dermot Kennedy, The Frames, Damien Dempsey, Picture This, Clannad, Florence Road, Denise Chaila, Belters Only, Irish Women in Harmony, and Gavin James.
