Video Information

In 2025, U2 made a series of lyric videos available for songs that had not previously been widely released. These videos were posted via YouTube, as well as on paid streaming services, and digital platforms. The third video released was “40” in most countries, however, the video has not been made available in Canada. The video uses the studio version of the song.

To create the video, the lyrics of the song are combined with photos of the era, as well as footage of the band performing the song at Red Rocks in 1983.

The lyric video was released shortly after Bono spoke at the Ivor Novello awards to call for peace in Gaza and an end to the hostilities. Once again, Bono is left asking “how long?”
