Video Information

This video was a second video released for the “Please” single. It was used mostly in North American markets to promote the single, which in the USA had featured live versions of the songs, instead of releasing these as a separate EP as was done in other regions. The live footage was filmed in Helsinki on August 9, 1997, at Olympic Stadium. The Phunk Phorce video for “Mofo” also came from that footage.

The live footage from the Pop Mart tour is mixed with images of political murals in Northern Ireland, treated so they look like they are waving on flags. U2 also used the mural footage as a background film for their performance of “Please” on the 1997 MTV Video Music Awards. The earliest report of this version of the video being shown come from Finland where the TV program Jyrki showed the video on September 21, 1997.

This video was included on a special sampler DVD released with the two disc version of “The Best of 1990 – 2000” as a promo for the release of that title on DVD. It would not be included on the full DVD.
