Video Information

This alternate video for “Vertigo” was set to the music of the 10” Jacknife Lee Remix of the song, and the video was filmed by Joe Edwards while U2 were involved in a photoshoot for the “How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb” album in Lisbon, Portugal. U2 arrived in Lisbon on Thursday April 29 by private plane, and remained in Lisbon until Saturday, May 1. While there they shot in numerous locations with photographer Anton Corbijn, including the photo which was destined to become the cover of the album.

The video is a mix of black and white and colour footage of the band taken during these photoshoots. To add some interest a round lens is added to some of the shots adding distortion to the image.

Locations used for filming included the beach at Praia Grande, near Sintra, Portugal, the nightclub Lux, Concha Bar (where the “How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb” cover was shot, and an empty swimming pool at Hotel Arribas.
